Sundays March 10-31, 12:00 - 1:30PM
We will spend the first half of each class chanting and discussing the Bhagavad Gītā together. Then students will be broken into groups depending on experience and given individual Sanskrit instruction and assignments, learning from my textbook, Yogāvatāraṇam: The Translation of Yoga. Whether you are brand new to studying Sanskrit or have some experience - interested in learning proper pronunciation, reading the devanāgarī script, delving into meaning and grammar, or in just deepening your yoga practice - this class is open to all levels.
Join Zoë in Guanacaste, Costa Rica from July 20-27, 2019 for a magical week of Mysore practice, Sanskrit, chanting and philosophy and, of course, plenty of time on the beach!
I am honored and excited to be teaching daily Sanskrit / Yoga Philosophy Classes as part of a 100 hour Teacher Training led by my old friends and long time Ashtanga yoga practitioners and teachers, Mark and Joanne Darby, in a beautiful retreat setting in Costa Rica.
Sunday, January 7th, 12-1PM
The Ādityahṛdayam, “the heart of the Sun,” is a chant to the Sun God, from the Yuddha Kāṇḍa (6th book) of the Rāmāyaṇa. It can be chanted before practice in order to gather the energy and vitality of the sun. In this workshop we will chant this auspicious mantra, discuss its meaning and invoke the courage to face our own obstacles and fears.
Saturday - Sunday, October 28th - 29th
Through chanting and discussion of texts, mantras, and āsana names, we will explore the ways in which the yoga philosophy is embedded within our daily yoga practice and how we can draw on and deepen those connections. All levels are welcome!
